nuggets of wisdom on reducing PAIN & SYmPTOMS naturally

The one thing that will increase your energy instantly

Sometimes I look back on things that I have done and I am amazed it was me who did them. Over a year ago, my partner James and I ran a lodge in the Tropics of Australia. We did everything! We served breakfast, cleaned rooms, chatted to guests when they checked in and then served dinner each and every day. On top of all of that, we managed to market the lodge, renovate and paint the rooms and we still managed to be creative with the business and build it up! Wow! It sounds exhausting even when I just write about it. I honestly don’t know how I did it all! It got me thinking though, why and how did I managed to achieve so much in such a short time?

It wasn’t like my body was doing well, or that I was eating better. It wasn’t that I had amazing superfoods or supplements in my diet. It wasn’t that I was doing “energising” exercise like Yoga or going for walks. I did none of these thing then! The one thing that I had which gave me all this energy was excitement and a massive desire and purpose to make our guests stay a memorable and happy time. The reward of seeing guests off, who had experienced the best part of their holiday because of what me and James had created was enough to keep me going, running at this pace every single day. My passion for the job gave me this energy. Heaps of it! I was excited to get up in the morning, to chat with my new found friends from around the world. It was empowering to make things happen and implement new ideas. It was the sense of achievement of getting good reviews and the wonderful comments that made it all so worthwhile.

I think we underestimate how important this is to our energy level. Having a purpose. Having something that gives you so much back that it just makes you work harder and harder. Do you have that? Do you get excited with what you are doing with your life? Does it give you so much back, that you could work 14hrs a day on it?

Energy is part of healing. When we have energy, we have more power to heal our bodies. Think about it. The person who has energy and mental positivity to life, is inevitably going to be healthier. Think about the retired couple. They lose all energy for life, as their main purpose has been lost.

When you wake up in the morning and you are not excited about what you are getting up to, you will likely feel tired, listless and the idea of going to work is just exhausting. This is when you inevitably focus on why you feel tired and this is when your thoughts go straight to that place we all know well…. I feel sore, bloated, tired, slow etc. Have you ever noticed that when you wake to a day you are really excited about that these symptoms are somehow more cope-able? They are still there but somehow they don’t take over or almost confirm a reason to have them. This all comes down to what I like to call our “excitedness to life”. It is this excitedness that can overcome so much of that flat, depressed and dull you.

So, what can we do to find that “excitedness to life”? I have personally been struggling with this for the last few weeks. I am not sure if it relates to my dad’s passing or if I am on the wrong life path, but somehow I am struggling to get really excited about anything work related. Everything feels like too much energy and almost boring. I know that I need to refocus to get my usual energy back. I need to find something that I feel passionate about, something that is bigger than me and my small world. Something that helps others on a larger scale. – if only I could just do this blog and helping you all, for a living 🙂

Thing is, most of us don’t do this. We do jobs for money or because we think it is what we should be doing or perhaps something we are simply good at. It is seldom a passion, a real life choice. Something that changes lives, alters something in you. For me it is about giving back. For some of us it is about pushing ourselves and excelling and proving that we can. For some of us it is simply about fulfilling a dream.

I know I need to realign my passion and create a way to earn a living from it. The hardest part was finding that passion….. do you know what yours is?

The one thing that really helped me do that was a book I read called “Change Your Life“. It delves into who you are as a person, what your ethics are, what you really believe in as a person. It is fabulous and really makes you feel good about yourself. If you haven’t read it, it is well worth it! Go to the library and ask for it or order it on Amazon. It is by Sarah Laurie.

Would love to hear your thoughts and what you do for a living and how you feel about what you do. I know it feels like endo restricts our choices but it is amazing how secondary endo can get when you are truly happy with what you are doing with your life 🙂

I was really struck when I read someone’s post online about living someone else’s dream and that is what I had been doing. I realized my true passion is in creating art and I am moving forward on this dream, little by little. I am really proud of myself for sticking to it because I am definitely not doing it for the money. I also know what you mean about waking up and not having energy. That is how I feel on my long commute into work a few times per week- I am not happy with my work and it makes the commute worse. I sometimes wonder if Endo plays a role in this. I now have a part time job where I am more inspired and feel like I am making a difference because we sell green products for the home and it is an interior design showroom with only green offerings. I know it only goes up from here!

I’m sorry Jane 🙁 It isn’t easy to do the “just be” stuff. I know I have my moment too. It is more about just being present to me. Be present in who you want to be and the aspects of yourself that you love and the bigger picture stuff somehow comes together.

I can totally relate. I do have the book Change Your Life. I have started to read it and then get side tracked. How did you tackle the book? What is the best way to read it , to get the most out of it. I did the activity on “Be” and found I was not being many of the things I listed and got fustrated and I have not picked up the book again.
    Any suggestions.?? Thanks
