The Blood Group diet looks at our genetic and connection to specific diseases and conditions we have to blood type. The book explains how certain foods act as beneficial to our blood type and others aggravate it and make us more prone to diseases. He claims that eating the wrong foods for certain blood groups would weaken the whole system and thereby make us open to more diseases.
If you would like a copy of the book, you can purchase it here:
Now, I had read the book some time ago and followed the diet for a few months and found it was definitely beneficial. One could however argue that the diet suggested for my blood group (type A) would have beneficial to anyone with Endometriosis. It eliminates all meats, bread, white flour and dairy – which is pretty much what we are recommended to do anyway. The funny thing is though when I look at the diet again now, having unpacked it from our “box of books” there are some strange correlations which do make sense and make me question whether there could be more truth to this diet.
One of the foods which are recommended on the “Avoid” list are tomatoes, aubergines, oranges and red peppers/capsicum. Now, I have always found these hard to eat or that I have had some reaction to them. My stomach burns when I eat oranges and red pepper and my whole digestive system aches when I eat tomatoes. I have also noticed the burning tummy thing when I have vinegar which is another one Dr Adamo suggests avoiding.
So, I guess one could say there might be some truth to this diet, perhaps if you are a type A blood type – like me. The thing is though, does that mean all women with Endometriosis are type A’s? Probably not.
The book claims that Type A blood group are more prone to immune system type diseases and poor liver and stomach function type of diseases. It says that we struggle with stress easily and tend to develop immune disorders when we get overly stressed. It suggests Yoga and Tai Chi as our best bet for reducing our stress (kinda ironic since I tend to lean towards these)
Now, the theory ads up for me as I happen to be a Blood Group A. What blood group are you and what are your thoughts on it? Do you think there could be some merit in it or do you think it is just strange co-incidence?
We could always test the theory….
If you are not blood group A, send in your blood group type and some foods you have noticed you are sensitive to and lets see if it matches up…
It would be fun to see if it still makes sense for other blood groups!

It is a pleasure Shaz. I got the book from the library – no charge 🙂 It restricts certain foods but if you stick to the endo diet, you will find heaps of similarities. Cut out Gluten, Meat and Dairy is the main stuff. There are some other ones in this diet, like tomatoes and cashews. I will see what I can find for you 🙂
I am really interested in as much info about this as poss. a homeopathy Dr. mentioned this book to me and the ph one. Oh and yes i am type A blood too.Odd huh..
Is anyone not so far?Just curious. I know alot of people are not, but I don’t know if they have indo.
Anyone that has info on this diet I would love.I am tight for funds so I havent been able to get the book.
Melissa as usal you are on top of everthing thank you sooo much!!
Be well 🙂
Hi Mary, Welcome 🙂 I am glad you feel remotivated to go back on the meat free diet. I think the Blood Group Diet would probably benefit most of us with endo. It kinda takes care of many of the foods we should avoid to help with endo. I hope you recover well from your surgery and find your healing path 🙂
Hey I’m type A also and am just trying the blood type diet for the second time. I tried it when I was younger but found the meat free diet hard to manage whilst at school. I remember finding it helpful last time so I thought I would give it another go. I just had surgery for my endo so I’m trying to anything to prevent it regrowing!!
I wonder if there is more type As with endo than any other type??
Yeah, I wasn’t sure on this one. It seems slightly flawed in its approach but thought the correlations were interesting 🙂
Ok. I am also a Type A blood type. I have found that I can tolerate only small quantities of tomatoes, red peppers, and oranges, and limited amounts of their juices. Ketchup and tomato sauce are guaranteed heartburn and indigestion for me. Huh. Could be something to that. Interesting.
I found the correlation quite interesting but with so many suggestions on diets and things it is hard to take work out how many of them to do! I didn’t want to completely run out of things to eat! 🙂 Having read it again now though, by listening to my body and then deciding what to cut out, there seems to be a fairly large amount of things that I have noticed which are also in the book! Would be great to see what you find! 🙂
Well my blood type is A… I have eliminated all breads, white flour, dairies and meats. Been doing this for several months now and I do feel better. I do OK with tomatoes as long as I just eat them in small quantities. As for the other fruit or vegetables you list there I’m not sure, I just don’t eat them much. It’ll be interesting to read the book, I’ll have to see if I can find it at the library.
