nuggets of wisdom on reducing PAIN & SYmPTOMS naturally

without the risk of surgery or nasty hormone treatments

I Need to Tell You More about Aloe Vera and Why You JUST MUST Use It for Endometriosis!

I have mentioned Aloe Vera heaps on my blog already through posts and within specific lists for various symptoms, but I thought it was high time I created a blog post just for Aloe Vera and how it can help you with your Endometriosis.

You may not realise just how amazing this plant really is and how much it can help your Endometriosis and your whole body. All you need is one simple shot of 30ml of this liquid twice a day!

Aloe Vera works in three specific ways. In combination it means amazing healing for many of your symptoms with Endometriosis!

1. The Membranes and body surfaces

The body surfaces or membranes I am talking about are basically any mucous lining we have in our body — think of the mouth, nose, sinuses and throat. It also includes our skin, gullet, stomach, intestines, our genital tract and the lungs. Pretty much anywhere where there are joints coming together and organs rubbing together, there will be a layer of mucous to protect us. This would also include all those organs which get affected by our Endometriosis cells.

What Aloe Vera does is heal these linings, all over the body. How? Aloe Vera has a powerful anti-inflammatory effect and a broad anti-microbial property. The Aloe Vera stimulates the fibroblasts which produce collagen and elastin, which means they grow faster and heal the damaged areas and membranes. Research has shown that Aloe Vera can increase the rate of healing by about 30%!

The great news is, it works on everything in your body. Recognise these symptoms you experience with Endo? Well, Aloe Vera can get rid of them ALL!

Here is a full list:

  • Aching joints and sore muscles
  • Reduces sinus issues and hayfever
  • Heals skin sensitivies and as a bonus helps with keeping us younger looking! This includes acne, skin allergies, eczema etc.
  • Stomach burning, heartburn, reflux

2. The Immune System

Aloe Vera contains a sugar called acemannan which is found in the mucilage layer of the leaf. The immune system within us endo women appears to be overreacting. We become inflamed easily within various organs. This is an immune response to attempt to heal the body. Unfortunately, it is the very inflammation which also causes us more pain and that familiar bloaty feeling. What this acemannan does is regulate the immune response in the body through specialised cells in the lining of the small bowel. It essentially is self-regulating which means it will stimulate the correct immune response the body needs.

3. The Digestive System

Our digestive system generally suffers. It is essentially not working at its optimum which means it creates consequences within every aspect of our bodies’ functionality. Think about it. We need this to work to absorb everything we need from our food. Because our digestive system is always so up and down, it is likely we are simply not absorbing all that good food we are feeding our body. This means the food that is not digested lands up back in the bloodstream for the liver to flush out.

We need our digestive system to work properly. It needs to be able to absorb what we need from the foods we eat PLUS it needs to flush out all those toxins sitting in our body making us sick!

Aloe Vera heals that lining in the digestive system to help this happen. It is a mucous lining which lines the gut. This lining can become damaged really easily. Causes are: drinking alcohol, pain medication, gluten (common cause), coffee plus stress and anxiety all add up to a weak mucosa gut lining.

The good news is that Aloe Vera can fix this one! Once you’re on Aloe Vera, your body will be able to absorb heaps more of the good stuff you give it and all those supplements will really start to work! It also contains Vitamin B12 which is hard for us to obtain in our diets and greatly helps our liver healing.

Side note: If your digestion is really bad, it is worth combining the Aloe Vera with slippery elm powder and glucosamine. The other one they recommend are cabbage juice but I tried that the other day and it was nasty, even mixed with pineapple and apple juice!

So, you can see why I am always recommending Aloe Vera juice. Aloe has even more benefits; it has over 22 vitamins and minerals, and trace elements.

The hardest thing is finding a good source of Aloe as the plant has become quite well known and many want to profit from simply having the words “Aloe Vera” on the packaging. Make sure you buy a product which has no preservatives or sugars in them, it is organic and contains real If you currently take Aloe Vera and love the one you drink, please let me know so I can share it with everyone.

Now, to drink Aloe is really easy. Just have about a shot glass full — yes, kinda funny — twice a day! It tastes okay but if you find it yucky, you can add it to your juice and that is fine! Try and drink on an empty stomach and wait 15 minutes before eating anything.

I struggled to find a good quality aloe vera juice that didn’t contain heaps of preservatives and funny ingredients. I found an awesome company called Lily of the Desert. Click here to order it through Amazon: Lily of the desert Aloe Vera Juice. (supports me in the process)

The major effect I noticed when I used other products is that the other products can cause one to get a more “active” digestive system than we might want! The Lily of the Desert products avoid this as they reduce the amount of aloin in the product, which creates this effect in the body.

This one is great and its ingredients have all been approved and regulated. Check this ingredients break-down…

So, get onto the Aloe! It does wonders for our digestion and our health!

Hugs, Melissa x

    Hi Rachael,
I think that you could probably do one or the other or maybe two of them. That saves you a few anyways! I personally love Aloe Vera for the gut :)Love that you are taking Schizandra 🙂

  23. Rachael

    Hi Melissa

Sorry for all the questions today but your blog is so informative!

I was just wondering if taking aloe vera, NAC and G Glutamine would be too much daily in terms of healing the gut?

And are these ok to take with Vitex / schizandra berries?

    Many thanks
    Rachael xx

Hey all! I have been suffering with endo for 3 years now. I am 24 and was diagnosed with it at 21 after my lap surgury to take out a ovarian cyst the size of a golf ball 8cm.. I want to let every woman know suffering with this illness that aloe vera has helped me, when nothing else has I even tried apple cider vinager birth control pills pain meds all of it. It basically started ruining my life at a young age it was so bad that my insides always felt swollen painful like something was poking my sides my back my stomach it was just a crazy feeling. What I did was get the real plant!! I did not look into places that say there is aloe vera in the bottle. You must get the real deal cut it open and take that gel out put it in the blender. Drink on a empty stomach, keep it in a glass jar in the fridge it goes bad after 2weeks so try to finifsh it. I dont know how it is at other states but I live in Ca and its very easy to find the real plant at the Mexican Super Markets. I did it for only 3days every night drank half a cup and saw the difference! I drank it every day for a month and now I make sure I have it at least three times a week.

My grandma has also been taking this with me just for the vitamins and it has helped her bones she could not bend down before and now she does.

    Hi Penny,
Great that you found Aloe. Also, if you can find some Manuka Honey over there, it is brilliant for acid reflux. Another way is Bicarbonate of Soda. Mix a teaspoon with water and drink, twice a day.
    Hope you feel better soon.

  26. Penny O'Donnell

Hi, Melissa! I have acid reflux and was just diagnosed with psoriasis. I’ve been miserable for the past several months. I saw Aloe King Aloe Vera Juice in my grocery store in the produce section. I have just begun to use it, and I will let you know how it works for me. It does taste pretty yucky, but it’s if it helps, it’s worth it. Aloe King comes from South Texas. 🙂

  27. Melissa

Hi Kathy, I did some research for you and found a company in the US with a good quality aloe, no preservatives and organic! They are called Lily of the Dessert. You can buy it through Amazon or your health shop. Check out their details here: http://www.lilyofthedesert.com/the_lily_difference

  30. Melissa

No probs Heidi! It is great stuff and does wonders for endo!

  31. Heidi

I couldn’t live without drinking aloe about 10 years ago. It helped with what I called stomach pain at the time. I got away from it but now I am going to start drinking it again. Thanks!

  32. christina

George’s Aloe Vera is the best, hands down. I’ve done research on many different types of Aloe, and the kind you want, is the kind that does not use the leaf, but the juice inside the plant, and from a special variety of aloe. I highly recommend George’s Aloe above all the rest that are available on the market today.

  33. mariyam

let me know if you need any details of forever living gel….i could help you out

  34. mariyam

hey forever living loe vera gel is the best product i have ever experienced….i give 100 votes to that

  35. Melissa

Hi Eva. When we heal using natural methods, we unfortunately can’t use the same western medical approach to healing – ie take this tablet or drink this and it will heal or cure you. Unfortunately, it is not as simple as that or I would’ve invented a natural endo tablet by now 🙂 Aloe Vera, Maca and EPO will all help you feel better with endo but they are not necessarily going to cure you. You need to take a complete holistic approach to healing. Apply heaps of other methods, suggested on the blog in combination with those supplements are you are more likely to find your body returns to a natural balance. We are all different and you may need to find more specific healing techniques for you individual body. This is where your natural practitioner will work with you, to look at other organs to do that for you 🙂

  36. Eva

Hi Melissa, I was suffering from endo for 10 years and ttc for 8 years with 3 failed ivf. Your site really give me hope and i thought of trying Aloe vera juice from Forever living products. Is the aloe juice from here a good one? I am also taking maca, evening primrose oil and Endo-ex from nativeremedies.com. Will all these herbs cure my endo? Kindly help. I am just starting.

  37. Melissa

You can but it can be a little tricky here in New Zealand – way too much rain :). Aloe grows in arid regions and likes hot, dry climates. You can find out how to do it here:

  38. sharon

I am interested i this too.Can you get it from growing your own plant too? 🙂

  39. Melissa

Some heavy research going on as we speak! Might be swimming in Aloe soon! Oh well, not a bad thing 🙂

  40. Alex

aaaaah sounds like I need to try it a.s.a.p!
Looking forward to the follow up on which products to buy 🙂
