nuggets of wisdom on reducing PAIN & SYmPTOMS naturally

without the risk of surgery or nasty hormone treatments

If it’s not working, why do you keep using it, to try and feel better with Endometriosis?

The best quote I can think of, which defines Insanity: “Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results”. Albert Einstein. Many of us have done this or are still doing this. We go on a particular treatment because our Gyni or our doctor suggested it. We believe them and follow what they say religiously. This could be the contraceptive pill, Lupron, Depo Provera or simply living on pain-killers until the next operation.

We feel absolutely lousy ….. Terrible. In pain and struggling and wishing for it all to somehow get better. Hoping that this treatment we are on will somehow make a sudden turn and suddenly work. Each day is a mystery as to what level of pain we are going to experience today. Life becomes a series of “better than yesterday with Endo”. You live on painkillers and you can’t remember the last time you were able to just laugh and enjoy the simple things of life, without Endometriosis somehow destroying it! Life becomes all about Endometriosis and you start to feel such a deep sense of anger and bitterness for your body, this horrible condition and that somehow you were cursed to get it! You even resent women who don’t have Endometriosis pain as much as you and just start to believe that you are stuck. Stuck with this debilitating disease that will never leave you. A life of endless suffering……

The reason I can write this, is simply because I have been in that headspace. I have been so low with Endometriosis and honestly thought my only option was to get a hysterectomy (actually believing this would work!). It started to affect my work and my career options and my whole life was suddenly all about Endometriosis. Eventually…… I gave up. I really did. I stopped trying. I stopped taking everything the doctors had given me, not because I didn’t believe they had their place but simply because none of it seemed to do anything to make me feel better. I got into a terrible mindset where I believed that, if I can’t do this 100%, then I don’t want to do anything at all. Never mind that I had completely run out of any funding for my “medical condition”. My health insurance wouldn’t cover another operation and all those hormonal treatments were just too expensive to pay for on a basic salary, this is one of the main reason why I always tell women in my situation that. So, there I sat, a month after going off all the treatments the Gyni had suggested, wallowing in my own self-pity. I was after all allowed to be miserable. No one could possibly understand what I was going through and this was just hell. I sat in that space for at least a month. Completely exhausted, defeated and just helpless.

Thing is, no matter what happens we somehow we have to move forward. We do. It is hard but we do.

So, I went to the library. I remember it like it was yesterday. It was slightly chilly, late autumn and I had chosen the most dark and hidden clothing I could find. I wanted to escape and somehow be invisible. I went into the health section and looked for a book on Endometriosis. I found one. It didn’t tell me the usual things about it though and in that moment…. I realised the massive potential of healing that is all within our reach. It was not mainstream. It was not common knowledge BUT it was right here in a public library! It is natural, holistic healing.

Something changed in me that day. Something MASSIVE. It was hope. I finally had hope that there was more than one way to deal with Endometriosis.

I write this article to give you hope and that it opens you up to healing Endometriosis naturally. There are other options out there, other than Lupron, Depo Provera and drugs and operations. You can feel better with Endometriosis without those!

I have discovered so much about the body and how to feel better. I have learned the connection between our Endometriosis and our pain, our irregular hormones and all the associated symptoms we have.

Please never give up searching and trying new things – even if they are not mainstream! Don’t dismiss anything and try anything – no matter what others might say!

For me, the best thing that ever happened was that exact thing – giving up or rather…. giving in to it all. I got so low, that the only way was forward and for me, that was natural healing.

I have not had another operation since then, which was over 7 years ago. I have very minimal pain from my Endometriosis and it is getting better everyday.

You too can have this. I promise 🙂 Just start by making a change. A positive change. Start with the first step – find HOPE 🙂

Hi Sweetheart. I have thought about your comment overnight and was trying to think of the best way to help you. To me, the real healing for my body only began when I actually appreciated how my body worked and how the treatments were working in sink with those workings. Understanding why it demonstrates the “pain” signal, why it becomes inflammed, why it reacts the way it does. Though there are many people out there that try and help, they are only going on what their experience has been with other cases and situations. Endometriosis often also gets lumped with other conditions, that require a completely different approach. Did you learn much along your journey of trying all these different methods? Did it help your body in any way? Healing your body is a journey, a discovery and only one you can find. No-one else can do it for you. You need to read your body and find things that work for you. Only when you appreciate how your body works, can you trust in your own instincts on what you personally need for your body. I am sorry nothing has opened your healing enough that you are still stuck in such pain. Have you tried the Gerson Therapy? It requires some serious commitment but they have claimed curing extreme cases of endometriosis….. Big hugs and I hope you find some relief. Just keep searching and eventually you will find relief

What happens when you’ve tried everything, conventional and as holistic, alternative or downright kooky as it comes? What if you’ve spent your last penny and nothing helps? What if many of those same alternative or holistic practitioners then blame you when it doesn’t work though you’ve followed the diets, suppliments and pills to the letter, because that would mean admitting that their cure doesn’t work? When you get to the stage that nothing is helping and the only thing you can do is take the morphine just to get bathed and in back to bed because you are so crippled by pain that you need a wheelchair to go anywhere. What then?

    Wend:
Thanks for sharing… I think you are right on. Having a Hysterectomy is a decision to not take lightly and it is individual case by case senerio. I am glad that has relieved so much of your challenges and it was the right decision for you.

Yes.. don’t be afraid to try different things out there. There is such a wealth of knowledge.
As far as change I also think that the mind set in a lot of people is that Medical Doctors words carry more weight then say a Herbalist or Natropath. I have learned that I give more weight to individuals that treat the WHOLE person. Also someone that has the same challenges. If you go to a Internist or a surgeon generally they are going to treat
you with what they are trained in, their expertise, prescriptions and surgery.
All I can say is if something works for me I pass it on. What they do with it , is up to them.
Fear plays a big role in change. I think we like the safety net that a doctor told us. I mean he must KNOW. Yes… I am guilty of insanity too….
    Peace and love.

I haven’t but I would look into acupuncture point stimulators instead – as an idea 🙂

Has anyone tried one of those MN8 Magnets that are suppose to help for endo pain relief.

There’s a saying I tweaked w/ what you wrote- If you keep doing what you are doing, you’ll keep getting what you are getting. Why do we do that? ‘cos humans don’t like change. We rebel against it. The same ol’ same ol’ is ‘safe’. New things are uncomfortable.
I have to say that after my hyst, changing MORE of my diet LOL, I do feel better w/ endo. I still have digestive issues & while I don’t recommend getting rid of body parts, it was the right decision for me. A hyst won’t cure endo. Esp. when they keep the ovaries ‘cos the ovaries still produce the excess hormones that irritate endo. But you know tho, not having that period DOES relieve a lot of the symptoms. I like not having a period anymore. I still ovulate so have the PMS, bloat, but I don’t have to worry ‘bout changing every hour on the hour. No more Oops! where I leaked thru to my pants. No more mess & stench of the blood. I can make plans to go out & do things w/o having to look at that calendar. My sex life is SOOO much better now w/ my husband ‘cos my cervix is gone so no more pain there.
Have to weigh the pros & cons. I won’t do anymore surgeries tho. Unless absolute necessary! But also, my hyst was w/ the Da Vinci robot. I went home the same day & had less pain & better recovery than traditional hysts.
Please know, this is not to tell any girl to Hey, go ahead & get that hyst! It’s letting people know that there are pros & cons to it. It didn’t cure my endo but it did help improve the quality of my life & THAT was important to me. ‘cos no matter how much we do the organic foods & supplements, if a body part is damaged, those things can’t reverse it.
& as Melissa says, There is hope! Don’t be afraid to try new things, that new supplement, a change of diet, more exercise.
