Important update! Castor Oil packs provide amazing relief and can be done regularly. It is REALLY IMPORTANT to not use the hot water bottle with water that is super hot on the skin. It should be luke warm – NOT HOT! Heat is not our friend when it comes to endometriosis long-term. It makes adhesions become denser and harder over time, which will create more pain. Avoid heat on your abdomen at all costs!

    Hi Mellissa,
I was treated with homeopathic medicine (Lachesis and colocynthis plus Nat mur) I felt much better and the pains only came coming during the monthly period. After that treatment I tried CBD oil which was high in THC and my endometriosis flared. Its even worse now. Trying to control it with a castor oil pack but it is taking so long to take effect. I have tried using vitex and evening primrose oil to balance my hormones but it makes the endo worse. Everything I try to balance my hormones ends up causing more pain. The homeopathic remedies only help to lessen the bloating and the cysts but I guess I must use them long term to reap the full benefits. Is it normal to get pain from natural hormone balancing supplements?

I have been trying to find a credible medical source in reference to heat having a negative effect on endo but I can’t seem to find one…could you tell me what source you found that in???? Heat is one of the few things that helps my pain.

  5. Elle

When in my cycle should I use castor packs? I would like to do it regularly but many sources contraindicate during menstruation. Thanks! πŸ™‚

  6. Melissa

Thanks. I am going to be updating this video shortly πŸ˜‰

  7. Isa

Would be great if you could move the tag ‘cure endometriosis.com’ on the video to the top or sides – would be easier to see what your doing!
    Thanks for the website.

  8. Tanya

I tried this yesterday & it works! it really works! Thank you so much!

  9. Melissa

    Hi Stephanie,
Yes, oil on tummy, then cloth (more so your heat pack doesn’t get all sticky) and then heat pack.
Glad I can be here for you sweetheart πŸ™‚

  10. Stephanie

I feel a little silly asking but, you put the pack with oil directly on the skin correct and then the heating pad on top of a cloth. I have a new onset of low back, spinal pain with all of the other pains that are “normal” for me and I would like to try this.

Sometimes when I get discouraged I come back to this website and start again. Thank you for all of us who live in a world where people and physicians do not understand.

    Thanks again,
    Stephanie

  11. Melissa

I have and other girls have done it – does it feel right to do it?

  12. Cheryline

What about applying it on the last few days of menses flow? I usually have remnant pain and the flow for the days after first 2 days can get pretty slow.

  13. Melissa

    Hi Cheryline,
The best time to apply it is a few days before your menses. The reason we get such severe inflammation is our bodies can’t expel the excess blood. The chinese call Endometriosis: blood stagnation. I would also stress that eating an anti-inflammatory diet makes a huge difference. πŸ™‚

  14. Cheryline

I am thinking of buying castor oil pack because of my endometrosis and depilating pain during my menses. But I’m confused by the following statement from Heritage Products Castor Oil pack:
“Do not apply heat to castor oil pack if you have or suspect you have an infection, inflammation, fever, or abdominal pain and seek medical advice. Do not use a heating pad if you are pregnant or during menstruation.”
I wanted to apply something that will really take away the tummy swell and pain i have during my menses so if I can’t use the castor oil pack during my menses cramps then isn’t it defeating the idea? Sorry if I’m not making sense…

hi melissa, thanks for your video, just wanna ask,on how can we determine what stage i am with endometriosis,i dont even know it,ive done 3 surgeries already hysterectomy and 2 ooporectomy,i could feel that my doctor doesn’t give me a thorough explanation about this disease and when i ask she just tells me,its ok,i know its not, with the pain and all my sufferings, how come she could say such easily…thanks for all my endo sisters i found out so many things and ideas to fight for this disease…god bless

  16. Melissa

Good point Marianna. Never even considered that πŸ™‚

  17. Marianna

    Hi Melissa.

Great video… Just wanted to add that apparently its important to use material for the pack that is as pure as possible and not bleached or dyed. This is because the castor oil can drive any chemicals into the skin via its absorption. I use sheets of organic cotton wool….

Keep us posted on your experiences with the packs… πŸ™‚

  18. Melissa

    Hi Nosh,
You can definitely use them again and again. I keep mine for months in the fridge too πŸ™‚ It is really good!

  19. NoshB

Hi, I am so keen to try this but I was just wondering if you are able to use the same castor oil pack again as the bottles alone are quite costly. I heard you can put it in the fridge and use it for a number of weeks is this true?

    Thanks πŸ™‚

  20. Melissa

Can’t remember now but most chemists stock them πŸ™‚

  21. shaz

Where did you get your heating pad from?Thank you!

  22. Melissa

    Hi Shaz,
I put mine in a little holder which straps around my body. I get the heating pads which you can heat up on the stove – liquid stuff inside.
Yes, it is not advised during your monthly πŸ™‚

  23. shaz

What do you sock yours in? I couldn’t quite understand on the video. Also I love your heating pad mine just died. What kind is yours? Last ? did you say mot to do it during your monthly?

  24. Melissa

    Hi Melissa,
It is my pleasure! Thank you for commenting and reading πŸ™‚
I use it at anytime of the month. I find it most important just before my period. Apparently it is not ideal during our monthly.
Aim to do it daily, every evening and see how you feel in a week. It does do wonders for pain.

  25. Melissa

Definitely. You can use it anywhere on the body and it will help ease things πŸ™‚

  26. Melissa

Just thought of one more question. I have Endo on my liver and I would love your opinion on whether or not to use the pack on that area of my body (both back and front)?

    Thank you

  27. Melissa

    Hi Mel

I am so excited to try this but I do have a couple questions. Is this safe to do anytime of the month? Now my chronic pain is starting to come back, and i was wondering how long the castor oil pack results tend to last for you? I also want to thank you for your blog. It’s amazing and you are an incredible person and inspiration for us Endo girls. It wasn’t until I found your blog that I was able to see a light at the end if the tunnel!!

Thank you for all that you do.

  28. Melissa

Thanks Julianne! Those are some fabulous tips to add to the post! Never even thought of putting in my bath πŸ™‚

  29. Julianne Butt

I have been using castor oil all my belly almost every night. I find it easier to just massage it in to whatever area I need too and then apply the heating pad over an old shirt or something. It allows be to gain a wider area then just the area of the flannel. I made a castor oil pack once, and from then on I found it was much more convenient and used less oil to just used is topically to aid digestion and bloating. If I use it before I go to bed no cramps or pains in the morning πŸ™‚ Also, if you are having widespead pain you can do castor oil body suits. You basically put it all over your body like a lotion, get in some old pyjamas and go to bed, or you can add some to your bath water and soak in it, and then pat yourself dry leaving the oil residue on your body and then getting into some pyjamas and go to bed. This is great because the heat from the bath gets it working throughout your whole body. Castor oil packs I am sure are great, I just find when I have cramps I normally have them in my hips and back too so i just rub it anywheres that hurts and move the heating pad around over a towel or shirt. Also, giving back massages with it is great, particially around the spinal cord. πŸ™‚

    Hi Vyara from Bulgaria πŸ™‚
Blushing is a good thing with Castor Oil Packs! Yes Ricini oleum is correct!
It shows the blood is flowing to the area and working it’s magic!
    Hugs,
    Melissa

  31. Vyara Gyunkina

    Hi Mel,
Today i finally decided to make and try those castor oil packs…and immediately a question arises … Is it ok if my skin got a little blushing? Here in Bulgaria, the only oil i could get was Ricini oleum, but after making a research, found it to be the same as castor oil. Just wondering whether this could be the reason, or it may be initial and temporary reaction. / it lasted only for 10 min/
    Thanks in advance
    Hugs from Bulgaria πŸ™‚
